Frequently asked

Does it work without internet?
Yes, completely. All reference data, images, the 3D model and the tools are inside the app. The only things that need a connection are the external forecast links, which open in your browser.
Why does the app ask for my location?
Only to put your position into the MAYDAY / PAN-PAN script in radio format. It is asked for when you tap the position banner in “VHF & distress”, used on the device only and never sent anywhere. You can decline and type the position yourself. See the privacy policy.
Can I navigate with it?
No. Lazy Skipper is a learning reference — not a chart plotter, not a navigation instrument. Use official charts, publications and equipment for navigation.
Which languages are supported?
Ukrainian and English. The app follows your iPhone language; you can override it in “About the app”.
Which standards does the content follow?
IALA buoyage regions A and B, COLREG-72 lights, shapes, sounds and rules, the International Code of Signals, chart symbols from US Chart No. 1 (INT, NOAA and NGA columns), and terminology in the RYA tradition. Reference data come from U.S. Government publications in the public domain.
I found an error in the content.
Please tell us which screen and what is wrong — a screenshot helps. Corrections ship with the next update.
Where are my checklists and vessel profile stored?
Only on your iPhone. Deleting the app deletes them; we do not keep copies.
Is it free?
Yes. Some future extras (for example audio courses) may become paid; the handbook stays free.
